Note: WebSphere Process Server has replaced WebSphere Interchange Server in the IBM product line. While Interchange Server remains in support MQSoftware will continue to provide services in this area, including the Implementation Planning and Smooth Start Services. Customers in early stages of WICS implementations should strongly consider shifting their efforts to WebSphere Process Server.

Is your company starting with WebSphere Interchange Server?

When properly implemented, Interchange Server can act as a service orchestration engine, linking calls to a wide variety of applications and technologies through the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters. An experienced MQSoftware can get your implementation off on the right foot with a clean base configuration of both the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters and WebSphere Interchange Server itself as well as an established set of best practice policies and procedures for WebSphere Interchange Server usage.

Smooth Start engagement deliverables:

  • WebSphere Interchange Server will be installed on any of the WebSphere Interchange Server supported systems.
  • A WebSphere Interchange Server runtime environment will be configured including logging, security, and backup/recovery either in a standalone or federated configuration according to your requirements.   • Specified WebSphere Business Integration Adapters will be installed on systems to be linked to WebSphere Interchange Server.
  • The WebSphere Interchange Server eclipse toolkit will be installed and configured on up to 10 standard developer/administrator systems.
  • Connections between the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters and the WebSphere Interchange Server will be configured.
  • Interchange Server Import/Export procedures will be defined including linkage to any supported source control manager that you own including, but not limited to Rational Clear Case, CVS, PVCS, and Microsoft Visual Source Safe
  • The installation and configuration will be tested using standard IBM sample programs.
  • Procedures will be established for creating projects and the underlying objects in the Interchange Server Workbench.
  • Procedures will be established for deploying code to the WebSphere Interchange Server runtime.
  • The MQSoftware Consultant will provide knowledge transfer related to WebSphere Interchange Server to your administrators, architects, and developers.

Smooth Start engagement prerequisites:

  • You have purchased the WebSphere Interchange Server and any required WebSphere Business Integration Adapter software and have it available by the time the project begins.
  • You have systems with the appropriate hardware and software resources for WebSphere Interchange Server and the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters. If you are uncertain, see the MQSoftware Implementation Planning Engagement
  • Systems that will communicate have basic TCP network connectivity.
  • A System Administrator for each of the systems will be available to provide appropriate administrative level logins.
  • Future Interchange Server administrators are available for knowledge transfer.

Duration: +3 days depending upon the number of systems to be configured.

A rough formula is 2 Days for groundwork - workbench installs, knowledge transfer, policy establishment etc.
