WebSphere Service Registry & Repository Services
In This Section:
Smooth Start
Is your company starting with WebSphere Service Registry & Repository (WSRR)? When properly implemented, WSRR can provide a searchable repository of service definitions and metadata that enables proper governance of SOA environments at the enterprise level. The presence of such a repository can be critical in encouraging the reuse and objective service level decision making that provide the primary business benefits of SOA. An experienced MQSoftware consultant can get your implementation off on the right foot with a clean base configuration and a well established set of best practice policies and procedures for the use of the repository.
Smooth Start deliverables:
- WebSphere Service Registry & Repository will be installed on any of the WebSphere Service Registry & Repository supported systems - AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, or Windows.
- The WebSphere Service Registry & Repository Service Lifecycle (development and promotion procedures for services) will be customized to match that of your enterprise
- Existing Service Definitions and their associated metadata will be gathered and entered into WebSphere Service Registry & Repository
- WebSphere Service Registry & Repository Administrative and User security will be configured for your users
- Procedures will be established for importing service definitions and linking them to metadata for future service development.
- Links will be established to external runtime products (e.g. WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere ESB) where desired and possible.
- The MQSoftware Consultant will provide knowledge transfer related to WebSphere Service Registry & Repository to your administrators, architects, managers, and developers.
Smooth Start engagement prerequisites:
- WebSphere Service Registry & Repository software purchased and delivered.
- Systems with the appropriate hardware and software resources for WebSphere Service Registry & Repository. If you are uncertain of this, see the MQSoftware Implementation Planning Engagement.
- A well-described governance plan for WebSphere Service Registry & Repository implementation including but not limited to a defined Service Lifecycle, implemented service definition documents (WSDL) for existing services, and service dependency documentation for existing services. If you are uncertain of this, see the MQSoftware Implementation Planning Engagment.
- A System Administrator for each of the systems will be available to provide appropriate administrative level logins.
- Future Service Registry & Repository administrators and representative users are available for knowledge transfer.
Duration: +3 days depending upon the number of systems to be configured.
A rough formula is:
2 Days for groundwork, installation, and knowledge transfer, policy establishment, etc.
1 Day per Windows system
1 Day per UNIX or Linux system
50 Existing Service imports per day
