MQS1127: WebSphere MQ Application Programming Boot Camp

Overview:

A 5-day Technical Training Course designed for Application Programmers. Classroom lecture and discussion will provide a comprehensive overview of message based application design. Hands-on programming exercises will provide programmers with ample opportunity to test and reinforce their understanding of the WebSphere MQ programming interface. All MQI verbs and options will be discussed to give students maximum exposure to the available features and functions of the API. Students will complete 15 labs in the language of their choice: C, C++, C#, COBOL or Java (Visual Basic and RPG are available for private courses only). This course is designed for Application Developers wishing to get hands-on experience writing WebSphere MQ applications.

Topics Include:

  • Message based application design in a service oriented architecture
  • Programming syntax for all MQI calls (MQCONN, MQCONNX, MQDISC, MQOPEN, MQCLOSE, MQPUT, MQGET, MQCMIT, MQBACK, MQSET, MQINQ)
  • Selective message processing (get using Message Id and Correlation Id as selectors, browsing messages)
  • Transactional processing in local and global units of work
  • MQ Triggering
  • Request-Reply patterns
  • Handling MQ Headers (MQMD, MQRFH, MQRFH2, MQDLH, …)
  • Handling large messages with MQ grouping and segmentation
  • Using MQ Clients
  • Multicast with MQ Distribution Lists
  • Dynamic routing using Publish/Subscribe.

Prerequisites:

You should have experience in designing business applications and in writing programs. Competency in C, C++, C#, COBOL or Java is required in order to complete the student lab exercises. All public classes are taught on Windows 2000, 2003 or XP with the latest version of WebSphere MQ available. Private courses are available using other platforms.

Certification Program:

This course will help you prepare for the IBM Certification Test 996 (IBM Certified Solution Designer – WebSphere MQ).
