MQS1130: WebSphere MQ Everyplace Introduction

This course is designed to provide attendees with a overview of the architecture, features and benefits of implementing WebSphere MQe.

Who should take this course:

This course is intended for those wishing a brief introduction to WebSphere MQ Everyplace (MQe) for the purposes of making purchase and/or high-level design decisions regarding the use of the product.

What you are taught:

  • The benefits of messaging architectures and how MQe may participate in such designs
  • The available MQe objects and the scope of their configurable properties in order to plan an MQe implementation
  • How MQe stores and sends data
  • Design requirements for sending data through MQe
  • Security functions of MQe for encryption of data and authentication of users

Topics Include:

Topics in this course will include a discussion of what MQe is designed to do and how it fits into the larger concept of a messaging architecture to provide the plug and play integration of applications. Particular emphasis will be placed on the ability to gather data from applications running on pervasive devices for communication to other pervasive applications as well as back end systems. Case studies will be used to examine practical usage. The concepts of MQe queue managers, queues, and connections will be described with a focus on where these objects will be needed and what properties should be considered when designing an MQe network. Discussions will cover the implementation of both the push and pull models for various network scenarios. The class will end with discussions of MQe security, the Java classes supplied as the API and the basics of designing an MQe application.

Prerequisites:

None. However, some understanding of the nature of messaging and object oriented programming will be useful to students wishing to make some prior preparation.
