MQS1172: WebSphere Process Server Administration

Overview:

WebSphere Process Server is the IBM WebSphere Family enabler for Business Process Management (BPM) integration. Companies implementing an SOA approach to application development are business innovators seeking to optimize their company business processes by implementing critical applications through modeling processes as a set of modular activities, binding to existing service providers where possible (or developing new services where no service provider currently exists), deploying process control (orchestration) services, and managing business processes through the entire application lifecycle.

This class teaches students to use WebSphere Process Server from the perspective of a systems administrator, highlighting the steps required to take a business process model from inception by business analysts through binding to existing and new applications (linking to existing services via JMS, HTTP, and MQ is discussed in detail) while introducing new integration process steps (or activities) through the application development tasks inherent in Process Server, to the complete deployment and management of a business process application. Attendees participate in hands-on deployment and execution of business processes to build basic understanding of the end-to-end process. Lecture and labs will assist attendees to gain first hand knowledge they will need for troubleshooting and supporting their Process Server environments.

All of the hands-on exercises are completed using WebSphere Business Modeler, WebSphere Integration Developer, and the WebSphere Process Server runtime environment. Class exercises are performed in a Windows environment, with lectures providing platform-specific information related to executing in AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, and z/OS.

Attendees will gain experience in:

1. Defining a process model based on sample business requirements

2. Deploying the model to WebSphere Integration Developer to define application interfaces via WSDLs

3. Creating and deploying models to the WebSphere Process Server runtime environment.

4. Managing an existing WebSphere Process Server implementation including performance tuning and troubleshooting techniques.

All WebSphere Process Server features and functions will be covered in detail in the training materials with classroom discussion and hands-on lab sessions focused on ensuring attendees gain the architecture knowledge and skills required for system administration.
