MQS1175: WebSphere Process Server Developer's Workshop

Overview:

This five-day course is designed to provide students with the core skills that they will need to implement orchestration (business process) services in WebSphere Integration Developer for WebSphere Process Server. After an initial discussion of the core function of process orchestration in an SOA, students begin by defining a business process using the WebSphere Integration Developer V6 and generating BPEL to describe that process. Students then learn to use Service Component Architecture (SCA) to make the process modular. Next, the concepts of data modeling for orchestration services are discussed in detail. Students construct basic data models as Business Objects.

The course then takes students through binding that process to JMS (both MQ and Service Integration Bus) and HTTP based Web Services using the WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) V6 and deploying the resulting fully defined business process to the WID Process Server testing environment. The later portion of the course takes students through more advanced process modeling including loops and decisions as well as the detailed handling of exceptions and compensation in the process server environment. Finally, other types of activity implementations are discussed including Business Rules Engines, State Machines, and Human Tasks. All key concepts are reinforced with hands-on labs to ensure attendees leave with practical experience.

Who should take this course:

This introductory course was especially designed for developers who will be implementing a Process Server Solution.

Topics Include:

  • What is WebSphere Process Server and how does it fit into a Service Oriented Architecture?
  • Fundamental specifications underlying Process Server (WSDL, BPEL, SCA, SDO,...).
  • Describing existing services to Process Server.
  • Binding process models to external services in WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) V6.
  • Configuring and using the WID test environment.
  • Developing Fault and Compensation Handlers and using them in a business process.
