MQS1177: WebSphere Business Modeler Workshop

Overview:

This three and a half-day course is designed to provide students with the core skills that they will need to develop, simulate and export WebSphere Business Processes to execute in a Service Oriented Architecture in association with WebSphere Process Server. After an initial discussion of the basic concepts inherent in the construction and execution of the processes, students begin by examining the objects utilized to construct a business process, then utilize these objects to construct a business process, ultimately generating BPEL to describe that process. During the construction and exportation of the process, students will examine the critical capabilities contained within the tool required to incorporate corporate application data, staff information, and applications as parts of the completed processes. Additional capabilities will be examined which permit simulated execution of the processes in order to analyze cost and time/schedule aspects of model execution. Finally, export of the processes to WebSphere Integration Developer for subsequent binding to external services will be presented.

Who should take this course:

This introductory course was especially designed for the individual who will be developing processes which will be utilized to create a complete Process Server Solution

Topics Include:

  • What is WebSphere Business Modeler and how it interfaces with other WebSphere components.
  • An examination of the concepts of workspaces and projects as they relate to WebSphere Business Modeler (WBM) V6.
  • The basic structure of the modeler and a review of the Eclipse based interface.
  • Describing the overall set of capabilities included in the tool concentrating on those needed to develop and export basic business processes.
  • The fundamental steps required to complete the definition of Business process Models in WebSphere Business Modeler (WBM) V6.
  • Covering in detail the basic objects available to generate a process model and a detailed examination of the behavior of each object.
  • Defining, running, and analyzing business process simulations in WBM.
  • Exporting process models via BPEL to WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) V6.
  • A detailed examination of advanced modeling objects available for generating more complex process models including a detailed examination of the behavior of each advanced object.
