MQS1181: WebSphere Service Oriented Architecture

Overview:

The WebSphere family of products provides a powerful set of Business Integration functions designed to produce a modular architecture consisting of service oriented components that may be modified or replaced independently of each other, and yet operate seamlessly as an end to end business process. This course is designed to give you a clear picture of the function of each of the major components of the WebSphere Business Integration family and a thorough grounding in their interaction. The course follows a core case study beginning with a simple pictorial diagram of a business process. The modeling of this business process within IBM’s WebSphere Business Modeler product is discussed in the context of a modular, service oriented architecture and is demonstrated by performing hands on lab exercises.

The implementation considerations for each step of this business process are then plotted to illustrate the core functions of a general service oriented architecture and the strengths of WebSphere MQ messaging and HTTP in such an environment. Hands on exercises demonstrate the deployment of Servlets and Enterprise Java Beans in WebSphere Application Server and the planning and construction of an WebSphere MQ transport layer.

The role of the WebSphere Message Broker in providing mediation between the business process layer and the actual service implementing each business function is discussed in detail and hands on exercises are provided to connect the integrated components. Finally, the entire set of components is joined using WebSphere Integration Developer, leading to a fully implemented and automated business process that is deployed to the WebSphere Process Server runtime. The monitoring and management of this environment using MQSoftware’s Q Pasa! and Q Nami! products is demonstrated to enable the student to see the big picture encompassing all products.
